An engineering postgraduate and business management graduate of Allahabad University and IASE (Institute of Advanced Studies in Education), Rajasthan, Joy Ghosh is vice president of the Delhi-based Edaxis Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd. Prior to signing up with Edaxis in 2009, he was the Delhi-based deputy general manager of Everonn Systems (India) Ltd (2007-2009).

Newspeg. Edaxis Systems, a major provider of server-based school information management systems which was hitherto the sales agent (Asia) of the US-based audio-visual equipment major Boxlight International (a pioneer in manufacturing and marketing LCD and DLP (smart class) projectors for schools, government agencies, houses of worship etc), is poised to set up a manufacturing plant for Boxlight in India, with the joint venture in an advanced stage of execution.

Edaxis Systems. A B2B (business to business) company, Edaxis provides India-specific consulting services to international companies marketing education and learning solutions and products. Its range of services includes setting up franchise networks, managing and running joint ventures, developing sales and marketing channels. Its most popular in-house products include I-Lingua: English teaching and learning software and the Edaxis digital language lab. Boxlight projectors are popular products imported and marketed in India by the company, whose client list includes IITs, IIMs, and NITs, among other educational institutions.

Direct talk. “Today learning and technology have become inseparable and new technology tools and software including language labs, have become mandatory for schools and colleges. Among our achievements are the introduction of the Edaxis digital language laboratory and interactive projectors which don’t require whiteboards and overcome disadvantages of screen size etc. With our projector, any wall can become a board. We pride ourselves on bringing cost-effective yet powerful solutions to Indian education at competitive prices,” says Ghosh.

Future plans. Positioned as a one-stop-shop for international companies entering the high-potential education marketplace, Ghosh is focused upon signing up channel partners countrywide. “We expect a substantial boost when Boxlight’s audio-visual equipment and projectors’ manufacturing facility becomes operational in the near future. For instance, the government sector alone in India requires 40,000 projectors which will now become more affordable. And with the growing use of technology in educational institutions, our marketing and consultancy business verticals are likely to experience a significant burst of activity,” says Ghosh.
