A bunch of BJP supporters recently threatened students at Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore and accused them of painting a graffiti of an angry face of PM Narendra Modi on a wall opposite the college. They also threatened teachers and guards.

The graffiti showed Modi with a finger on his lips, while the text below read, “Sab Changa si”, meaning everything is fine. After noticing this, MLA SR Vishwanath, along with locals and police, gathered outside the campus and threatened guards and others students from the college. A student from the college told Outlook said, “They just wanted to know the person or the group who drew the Modi graffiti.” Although there were several other paintings on the wall, “they objected to the one featuring Modi’s face and the text around it,” said other students.

It all started in the morning when one of the residents of Yelahanka New Town filed a complaint on the BBMP Sahaya app that the roads surrounding the college were filled with parked vehicles that made it difficult for pedestrians to walk.

Apart from objection to the graffiti, the BJP supporters allegedly commented on students wearing “short clothes” and smoking in public as it is “against Indian culture”. They also asked the college administration to instruct students against repeating it.

Geetha Narayanan, Director of Srishti Institute of Art Design and Technology, said she was “a bit thrown back when she saw this gang walk into her office. It came out of the blue.” She also said that while she didn’t take the responsibility for the graffiti, she would still get it cleaned.
