IIM Bangalore has released its latest admission policy for the MBA batch of 2021-2023. It will give majority weight to a candidate’s profile over their CAT score while creating the WAT-PI shortlist. The institute will also continue to give extra marks for gender diversity but does not give any additional marks for academic diversity.

The latest IIM Bangalore selection criteria includes:

IIM Bangalore has set the CAT 2020 cut-off at the 85 percent – the sectional cut-off of the QA and DI – LR sections has been set at the 75th percentile, while VA-RC section has been set at the 80th percent.

IIM Bangalore is planning to give 40 percent weight to a candidate’s CAT 2020 score while considering the composite score to shortlisted candidates for the WAT-PI round.

20 percent weight will be given to a student’s class 10 marks, 20 percent weight to graduation marks, and 10 percent weight to class 12 marks of that candidate while calculating the composite score to shortlist candidates for the WAT-PI round.

IIM Bangalore is going to give 2 percent weight to female applicants and 8 percent weight to candidates considering their work experience. Applicants having greater than or equal to 3 years of work experience will be given maximum possible marks for that component.

During the creation of the final shortlist, IIM Bangalore will give a 30 percent weight to the applicant’s Personal Interview performance, and 25 percent weight to the candidate’s CAT 2020 performance.

10 percent weight has been assigned to class 10, graduation marks and work experience, each. 5 percent weight has been assigned for the class 12 marks.

The process of selection followed by the institute “is based on the relationship between the academic performance of students of the PGP in IIM Bangalore and their past academic performance, CAT score of candidate, performance in the admission interview and previous work experience.”

IIM Bangalore’s process of eliminating and selecting candidates:

• Filtering out applicants on minimum CAT 2020 percentile cut-offs.
• Shortlisting candidates based on weighted composite score, that is, candidate’s profile and their CAT 2020 performance.
• Shortlisting applicants for admission based on candidate’s performance in the Writing Ability Test + Personal Interview round + Academic Profile + CAT 2020 scores.
