For instance, in Pune, Maharashtra, the municipal corporation has ordered that special arrangements be made for those students who wish to travel abroad for studies. Mayor Murlidhar Mohol said in a tweet on May 29 that such students can walk into vaccination centres and get themselves inoculated if they carried the supporting documents with them.

 

On Friday last week, the civic body of Mumbai also made a similar announcement that students traveling abroad for study could walk into three dedicated centres that were identified and get vaccinated between May 31 and June 2. 

 

However, there were reports later that students complained about long queues in Dr R N Cooper Municipal General Hospital which was one of the centres and that students were also turned down after several hours of wait. 

 

Karnataka has also a similar move and deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan tweeted regarding the same on Monday.

“The vaccination drive for students going to foreign countries to pursue their studies and those who need to travel to get employed in other countries will be launched on afternoon June 1. The vaccination drive will commence at the administrative block of Bengaluru City University. Those who wish to get inoculated should possess visas, admission receipts or any such relevant documents with them. Certificates confirming the completion of the vaccination will also be issued on the spot.

 

“BBMP and all district commissioners have been asked to issue the necessity eligibility certificates to students going to foreign countries and those who need to travel to get employed in other countries based on the verification of documents,” he said in a tweet.
