Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), engineering college of Manipal Academy of Higher Education secured 1st Runners Up position in the American Express CodeStreet hackathon national challenge with the theme Open Banking. From August 13 to October 18 the hackathon witnessed over 9000+ students participation and 10 teams were selected after the ideation phase. The 10 teams had to develop prototypes from 24th September to 8th October guided by a mentor from American Express.
From MIT, team ‘Ipseity’ comprising of four students from Manipal Institute of Technology –Mini Shail Chhabra (CSE Dept), Praseedha Praveen Kalbhavi (ICT Dept), Pratyaksh Gupta (EEE Dept), and Shreya Tewari (ECE Dept). The “Ipseity” team worked on the theme of open banking with an ideology of one world, one identity as the soul of their project. They worked and brainstormed to bring a proposal of a multipurpose identity card with all your IDs united at a single place, being powered, and entrusted by blockchain technology.

The CodeStreet is Amex’s flagship annual hackathon that provides coders with an opportunity to showcase their technical skills by solving the latest tech riddles in the Fintech industry.
The event consisted of 3-themes:
- Open Banking: Identity on Demand
- Cyber Security in financial services
- Monitoring Hotspots in Distributed Computing
