Two days after following Gargi College students alleged that a large number of men “barged” into their campus and harassed them during their annual fest, the police have arrested 10 people in connection with the case. Over 11 police teams were investigating the case and looking for suspects all over Delhi. They have questioned multiple people and identified over 30 suspects. Gargi College authorities were also questioned in the matter.

Those arrested are students in private and government colleges in Delhi NCR and are aged between 18 and 25 years, the police said. They did not have passes to attend the fest and allegedly jumped over barricades placed by security guards. Eleven police teams are investigating the matter. Security guards and college staff who were at the entry gate on that day are being questioned.

Third time elected Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his government would “not tolerate misbehaviour with our daughters” and demanding the “harshest possible” punishment for those responsible. 

Following the incident, Delhi University issued an advisory to all principals to ensure the safety of women employees and students in the aftermath of the alleged molestation of students during a cultural festival at Gargi College last week, according to PTI.

The university has also sought an action taken report within two weeks on the steps taken by the colleges to ensure the safety of students on campus.
