A candlelight protest march has been planned tonight at 7.30 p.m. near India Gate demanding the postponement of NEET 2022 on the occasion of Doctor’s Day. Students from other cities will also bring out protest marches in their respective localities. With just two weeks left for NEET-UG 2022 scheduled on July 17, medical aspirants are puzzled and perplexed. Twitter has already been flooded with posts like #CandleMarchForNEETUG and #doctorsday. #MODIJIextendNEEETUG.

As per the candidates, the CUET, and JEE Main are falling around the same time, which makes exam preparations difficult. They further said, the counselling of NEET-UG 2021 ended just in March, and the 2022 edition is scheduled on July 17. NEET or The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), formerly known as the All India Pre-Medical Test is held once a year.

“How are we to revise such a vast syllabus in just 3 months? Moreover, other important exams like the Board Exams, CUET, JEE Mains are also scheduled around the same time. Imagine the trauma and pressure we students are having to go through with all these significant exams scheduled one after the other. Is this a fair decision?” the petition demanded.

The last year’s exam was initially scheduled for August 1 but was postponed to September 12 due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For quite sometime now, students have been demanding NEET-UG be postponed to which the education ministry did not respond. Social media, specially Twitter has been flooded with posts like #postponeNEETUG2022 and #JUSTICEforNEETUG and #RemoveDharmendraPradhan. They have even gone to the extent of mentioning on social media platforms that these students will not give a single vote to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if the Education Ministry does not postpone the examination.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG 2022) will be held on July 17. NEET UG 2022 paper will comprise of 200 questions and be held for a duration of 200 minutes. Each subject will consist of two sections with internal choices in one section; section A will have 35 questions, section B will consist of 15 questions.
