Your October cover story ‘Why boarding schools are becoming popular again’ was interesting and information-packed. It’s true that our cities and towns are becoming highly-polluted gas chambers with children having to brave crowded streets and heavy traffic to commute to school.
As the parent of a six-year-old suffering from asthma, I have experienced the dangers of living in a polluted city first-hand and plan to enroll my daughter in a boarding school when she turns 11 years. Thanks for a very encouraging story on boarding schools.

Parameter rankings query
Re the EW India School Rankings 2018-19 published in the September issue, St. Paul’s English School, Bangalore has not been graded and ranked on several parameters. They include: leadership/management quality (our principal Susan Roy is a dynamic leader); teacher welfare and development; competence of faculty/ individual attention to students; special needs education; and co-curricular activities (tennis, cricket, football and several other activities are offered).
As no parent or student feedback was taken for the survey, please share the ranking parameters and evaluation method.

Words of appreciation
I am filled with sentiments of deep gratitude and appreciation as I write this letter to express my sincere thanks for presenting an excellence award to our school — St. Mary’s ICSE, Mazagaon, Mumbai — at the EducationWorld India School Rankings Awards ceremony in Delhi NCR on September 29. It was a very proud moment for our school and will be treasured for many years in the future.
While receiving the award, my mind and heart were filled with mixed emotions of joy, satisfaction, pride and love for our students. Gross injustice complaint
In spite of being regarded as one of the premier institutions in the country, Delhi Public School, Noida, has not been given its due in the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2018-19 (EW September). We are ranked #8 in the category of co-ed day-cum-boarding schools, despite being a core school of the DPS Society and a 36-year-old institution with an impeccable reputation for academics and co-curricular education.
With an average of 88.8 percent in the class XII CBSE exam and 89 percent in the class X board exam, DPS Noida is ranked #2 for academic excellence among 225 DPS schools worldwide. But in your survey, the school is ranked #8 for academic reputation with a score of 90. This is completely unjustified.
Moreover, though we have six student exchange programmes with Germany, Spain, Australia, Denmark, Switzerland and Sweden, our score for internationalism is a poor 77; and though our quizzers, sportspersons and debaters are winning international laurels and our 15 student clubs represent every aspect of co-scholastic activities, our score for curricular education is 82.
We regret to say that this arbitrary evaluation of schools, which is claimed to be comprehensive and exhaustive does gross injustice to schools such as ours. We look forward to a fairer representation in future so that meritorious schools such as ours are not sidelined.

Our school is one of the most reputed co-ed day schools in Chennai. Recently we were ranked All-India 5th and All-India 11th on the basis of our class XII CBSE results in 2018 and 2017 respectively by www.thelearningpoint.net. We request you to include our school in future surveys.

Erroneous classification
We thank you for assessing our school in the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2018-19. However, Manav Kendra Gyan Mandir is a co-educational day-cum-boarding school and has been wrongly assessed under co-educational day schools. It is ranked #255 in the co-ed day schools category. If we are assessed under day-cum-boarding schools our ranking would be #66. Similarly our Gujarat and Vadodara ranking would also improve significantly.
This error has resulted in great loss to our school’s reputation. We request you to kindly issue us a certificate stating our rank under the day-cum-boarding schools category.

I have read through the EW India School Rankings 2018-19 in detail (EW September). This is probably the best ranking of schools available in India — very comprehensive and reliable.
