Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani declared on 15th August, Independence day, the state government’s plans to open Army schools in the tribal-dominated areas. In order to provide required training to the youths of the community and help in their selection to serve in the Army, this plan has been carried out.

Gujrat govt also expressed the government’s role in ensuring the overall development of the tribal’s in the state of Gujarat. He further added in a statement, “Tribal youths are naturally strong and physically fit. They have all the qualities to become ideal soldiers. To make them compatible with the requirements of the Army, we have decided to open Army schools in tribal areas. This would ensure that a large number of tribal youths become eligible to join the Army.”

While speaking at a function in tribal-dominated Chhota Udepur district, around 170km from Gujrat, Rupani made the announcement. He also said that the government is taking adequate steps to make sure that the tribal population is not deprived of higher education and technical education opportunities. The BJP government has set up medical colleges in the tribal-majority districts of Dahod, Tapi, Surat, and Valsad.

The Gujrat govt addressed the youth and women in Chhota Udaipur, where the main state level event for Independence day was held and hoisted the tricolour flag. Meanwhile, Rupani addressed the people of the state on the eve of Independence Day through a video message. In the video, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for scrapping provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. He added that Gujarat will take a lead in realising Modi’s dream of building a ‘New India’.
