Karnataka govt orders schools to postpone admission process

The Karnataka government has ordered all schools to postpone the admission process till further notice. The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) said no school should start the process until the current coronavirus crisis is over. The order comes after several parents complained saying schools are forcing them to pay fees and complete the admission process before March 31 despite the nationwide lockdown till April 14.

Some schools had asked parents to pay fees online following which the dates for purchase of uniforms and books will be announced. As per the government circular issued on Tuesday, both under RTE as well as other schools have to postpone admissions for academic year 2020-21. If any school management is found violating the directive, it will be punished under Section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897. Besides, the parents and teachers have been asked not to visit any school. Deputy directors of public instruction, education officers and block education officers have been asked to enforce the directive and take action if any school is found to be violating the same.

All schools have been directed to stay shut till national lockdown is over.
