The 2023 board exams for II PU students are set to commence on March 9. On day 1 of the exams, students who have opted for the languages will appear either for Kannada or Arabic papers.

On Saturday, the first core subject for science students- mathematics exam has been scheduled this year.

This year, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation has allowed students appearing for examinations to avail the bus services free of cost. This is to help ease transport from students’ residences to exam centres.

As many as 7,26,195 will appear for the PU exams this year. Out of these, 6,29,760 are regular students while there are 43,798 private candidates. 70,588 students are repeating their exams this year.

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board has identified 1,109 examination centers, where one chief invigilator has been appointed each.

Among the security measures taken up for a smooth exam, 2327 special awareness forces, 525 at Taluk levels, 64 at district levels have been kept on standby. CCTV surveillance will be on in offices of all district collectors and examination centres.

A meeting had been called for with the Home Department and suspects of the previous years’ paper leaks are being watched, according to a release by the department.  

None except students appearing for exams will be allowed within 200 meters of the exam centre. Prohibitory orders will be enforced on the day of exams.

The state’s minister for school education, B C Nagesh reiterated in one of the briefings recently that no one donning a hijab will be allowed to attend exams as Hijab is not essential religious practice and not an integral part of the uniform.
