Sited on a compact 1.21-acre campus in Thane’s Mira Road suburb, the CISCE-affiliated N.L. Dalmia High School (NLDHS, estb. 1991) has built an excellent reputation for providing holistic values-based education supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure to its 2,349 students mentored by 135 teachers. In the latest EducationWorld India School Rankings 2019-20, NLDHS is ranked among the Top 10 (#9) co-ed day schools in Maharashtra (pop.122 million) and #2 in Thane. In 2017 the school was conferred the EW Grand Jury Awards under the category of ‘extraordinary leadership’.

Promoted over two decades ago by Niranjanlal Dalmia (1915-2005), a well-known industrialist-philanthropist and founder-chairman of the N.L. Dalmia Educational Society (estb. 1982) which also runs the N.L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research (estb. 1995) and the N.L. Dalmia College of Arts, Commerce & Science (estb.2019), NLDHS has adopted several innovative pedagogies (cognitive, constructive and metacognitive approaches, multiple intelligences theory, flipped classroom model) and IT-enabled learning to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.

Inspired and driven by the school’s mission statement — “to provide and promote excellence in education” — NLDHS supplements its rigorous academic programme with a rich extra-curricular activities menu to enable all-round development of children.

The school campus offers state-of-the-art academic, co-curricular and sports education facilities which include 55 IT-enabled classrooms equipped with interactive Promethean boards and wi-fi connectivity. In addition, there are nine laboratories, an air-conditioned multimedia library housing 14,500 volumes, a 300-seat air-conditioned auditorium, a 250-seat seminar hall, 70-seat multi-activity hall and a 150-seat cafeteria adding to the institution’s robust infrastructure.

Fully committed to the all-round growth and development of students, the NLDHS management has integrated a professionally-designed sports and performing arts (SPA) curriculum into the school timetable. The campus is equipped with modern indoor and outdoor sports facilities including football and cricket grounds, basketball, handball and volleyball courts, roller skating rink, chess and table tennis rooms and a fully-equipped gym.

Originally a state board school, NLDHS transformed into a CISCE school in 2012. Since 2012 when NLDHS’ first batch of class X students wrote the ICSE board exam, the school has registered impressive 100 percent pass rates.
